File Summary – In August 2022, Mackenzie RCMP responded to 243 files and conducted 3 proactive road checks.

Investigations of Interest:
1.1. On 2022-08-02 RCMP members responded to a report of a domestic in progress. Members located the suspect who has extensive history with police including previous domestic issues. Crown Counsel report completed and suspect is to appear in court in September.
1.2. On 2022-08-02 RCMP members responded to a report of a disturbance. Members attended and arrested a suspect for uttering threats. Crown Counsel report completed and suspect to appear in court in September.
1.3. On 2022-08-04 RCMP members responded to a report of a domestic assault. Members located the suspects on file. Members noted this domestic to be the same couple as the domestic two days prior. One of the suspects held in custody by the judge due to continued domestic violence while on police conditions.
1.4. On 2022-08-07 RCMP members responded to report of an unwanted person at a residence. During police attendance they located an intoxicated person driving into the driveway at the location. Criminal code impaired investigation completed and suspect will be given a court date once the Crown Counsel report is completed.
1.5. On 2022-08-08 RCMP members responded to a report of a dropped 911 call. Members attended and located a person who had been assaulted and threatened during a domestic dispute. The couple is well known to police and the suspect was out on conditions of no contact with the victim. The suspect was held in custody and is awaiting a court date.
1.6. On 2022-08-09 RCMP members responded to a break and enter in progress. The homeowner was present when an unknown person came through their unlocked back door. When the suspect was yelled at by the homeowner the suspect fled on foot hoping fences. No suspect located.
1.7. On 2022-08-12 RCMP members responded to a report of a person causing a disturbance at the hospital. Members attended and assisted with telling the person to leave. Mackenzie RCMP have responded to numerous minor in nature calls with this individual who has recently moved back to Mackenzie. Mackenzie RCMP continue to work toward a solution to avoid the on-going calls and disruption he has caused in Mackenzie.
1.8. On 2022-08-13 RCMP members were call to an residence by BC Ambulance for a drug overdose. Members attended and confirmed identity of the person who was known by police. Fentanyl is the suspected drug.
1.9. On 2022-08-15 RCMP members responded to a report of a drilled gas tank at Conifex mill. Suspects located in area and well known to police. As no witnesses to crime and it was not captured on surveillance police could not take any action with suspects.
1.10. On 2022-08-15 RCMP members responded to multiple residence on the Hart Highway that reported they were broken into. Lead investigator is collecting surveillance and list of stolen items in attempts to identify the suspect. No current leads at this time. Of note this area was targeted by prolific thieves from Prince George last year.
1.11. On 2022-08-15 RCMP members responded to a report of a located stolen vehicle up the Finlay FSR. Members located identity of two suspects inside the vehicle and are working with Tsay Keh RCMP to proceed with charges.
1.12. On 2022-08-15 RCMP members completed a traffic stop on a vehicle. The member recognized the driver and determined they had an outstanding warrant out for Fort St James. The driver was arrested for new charges of prohibited driving and released on scene with a court date for Fort St James and Mackenzie. Of note this suspect has been arrested three times this year for prohibited driving charges.
1.13. On 2022-08-15 RCMP members responded to a report of a break and enter at the Mackenzie Golf and Country Club. Property representative was able to capture suspects on surveillance. Police were not able to identify suspects due to concealed faces.
1.14. On 2022-08-17 Mackenzie RCMP stopped a suspect following another person at night. The suspect was well known to police. Police stopped the suspect and located a weapon for dangerous purpose. Weapon was seized for destruction. Due to case law around the criminal code charge and circumstances no charges will be pursued on the file.
1.15. On 2022-08-17 Mackenzie RCMP completed a traffic stop and noted signs of impairment. Road side screening device administered which resulted in a “Fail”. The driver was arrested for impaired driving. Driver received documents for a 90-day driving prohibition and vehicle impoundment.
1.16. On 2022-08-18 Mackenzie RCMP completed a traffic stop of a suspicious vehicle out of Prince George. Road side screening test completed for drug impairment which resulted in a 24 hour driving suspension and vehicle impoundment. Driver released on scene.
1.17. On 2022-08-19 RCMP members responded to a breach of court order conditions stemming from a domestic assault. Members attended, located and arrested the suspect who is well known to police. Suspect released away from the victim and will appear in Mackenzie for court.
1.18. On 2022-08-20 Mackenzie RCMP spoke to a suspect well known to police. Suspect was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. Search yielded a weapon and suspected Fentanyl. Due to recent case law changes around possession of drugs no charges will be pursued.
1.19. On 2022-08-20 Mackenzie RCMP recognized a suspect walking who had an outstanding warrant out of Mackenzie. Suspect arrested for his warrant. Search of the suspect yielded a weapon which was seized for destruction. Suspect will appear in court in Mackenzie in September.
1.20. On 2022-08-22 RCMP members responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the industrial area. RCMP attended and recognized the suspect who is well known to police. Suspect arrested for possession of stolen property. The suspect will appear in in court in Mackenzie in November.
1.21. On 2022-08-26 RCMP members responded to a domestic assault. Members arrested a suspect who was released on conditions for court in Mackenzie in September.
1.22. On 2022-08-26 RCMP members responded to a report of threats with a firearm. A search warrant was obtained which yielded 3 firearms. The suspect has been arrested and will appear in court in Mackenzie on a later date.
1.23. 2022-08-27 RCMP members responded to a report of a domestic assault. Members attended the residence that was well-known to police and spoke to parties involved on scene all of which were uncooperative with police. File still under investigation.
1.24. On 2022-08-28 Mackenzie RCMP were contacted by Nanaimo RCMP to locate and arrest a suspect on multiple counts of sexual interference and one count of sexual assault. Police were able to locate and arrest the suspect who appeared before a judge. The suspect was released by the judge pending a court in Nanaimo in September.
1.25. On 2022-08-29 Mackenzie RCMP were contacted by Williams Lake RCMP about a stolen trailer being in Mackenzie. Mackenzie RCMP located and seized the trailer. Suspect is currently in custody on other matters. Williams Lake RCMP continuing their investigation for theft.
