File Summary – In May 2022, Mackenzie RCMP responded to 205 files and conducted 5 proactive road checks. Mackenzie RCMP responded to multiple reports of sudden deaths and suicides this month.
Investigations of Interest
1.1. On 2022-05-03 RCMP members responded to a report of an impaired driver in the Pine Pass. The suspect vehicle was located. The driver produced a “fail” their vehicle was impounded for 30 days and an immediate 90 day suspension was issued.
1.2. On 2022-05-05 RCMP member spoke to a person living in Mackenzie who disclosed they were sexually assaulted. The victim refused to provide any information to police. The lead investigator made multiple attempts to reach out to the victim and provide additional support contacts with negative results in any cooperation at this time. RCMP members believe this to be a target sexual assault revolving around drug trafficking and don’t have concerns for the general public at this time.
1.3. On 2022-05-09 RCMP members responded to a report of two individuals causing a disturbance near 400 Skeena Dr. Members attended and determined no criminal offence.
1.4. On 2022-05-09 RCMP members completed a stop from a known drug residence and seized a small quantity of suspected methamphetamine. Members continue to target known drug residences in Mackenzie. Due to recent law changes there is no longer criminal charges for person possession amounts.
1.5. On 2022-05-11 RCMP members were notified of an individual residing in Mackenzie with an outstanding warrant. Members located, arrested and released the individual for a court date in Prince George.
1.6. On 2022-05-11 and multiple other occasions RCMP members were called to assist with landlord renter issues at the Mackenzie Mall. All parties were advised it is a civil issue.
1.7. On 2022-05-12 RCMP members responded to a physical altercation out front the Ernie Bodin Centre. Suspects gone on arrival.
1.8. On 2022-05-13 RCMP members were called to assist with a 5th wheel parked at the Mackenzie campground without paying. Members spoke to the local Mackenzie resident who agreed to leave in two days.
1.9. On 20225-05-14 RCMP members responded to a report of a domestic dispute. On attendance all parties stated it was verbal only. RCMP member will continue to monitor the individuals.
1.10. On 2022-05-15 RCMP members responded to a report of a suicide. Members attended and secured the scene for coroner services. Coroner services has deemed it to be a suicide at this time.
1.11. 2022-05-18 RCMP members attended Morfee Lake for a patrol and located a suspicious vehicle near first beach. The individual was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. A small quantity of suspected methamphetamine was seized. Due to recent law changes there is no longer criminal charges for person possession amounts.
1.12. On 2022-05-19 RCMP members responded to a report of a suicide. Members attended and secured the scene for coroner services. Coroner services has deemed it to be a suicide at this time.
1.13. On 2022-05-20 RCMP members were on proactive patrols and located a stolen vehicle in the Morfee Trailer park. No suspects around vehicle during locate. Vehicle seized to be returned to won out of Prince George.
1.14. On 2022-05-20 RCMP members responded to a report of a starter taken from a vehicle. No suspects at this time and no video surveillance.
1.15. On 2022-05-21 RCMP members responded to a report of a break and enter to ARGO road maintenance office. Attempts for identification services examination of scene negative for any evidence.
1.16. On 2022-05-21 RCMP members pulled over a truck of the Parsnip DSR. The driver was deemed to be intoxicated and issued a 24-hour suspension.
1.17. On 2022-05-23 RCMP member attempted to stop a suspicious van on the Main Line DSR. The van fled from members and was not located.
1.18. On 2022-05-23 RCMP members located a prohibited driver on highway 29. The individual was arrested for prohibited driving and will be attending court 2022-09-15 in Mackenzie.
1.19. On 2022-05-23 RCMP members responded to a report of a break and enter on McIntyre Dr. Members completed neighbourhood enquires and were able to locate suspects and recover majority of the stolen property. Both individuals arrested will be attending court 2022-09-15 in Mackenzie.
1.20. On 2022-05-23 RCMP members received an alarm at Mack One Elementary School. Members attended and cleared the building that had been breached. No suspects located. On-going issue with the property with alarms, arsons and mischiefs. No plans for the school district to deal with the building which continues to be a burden on police resources.
1.21. On 2022-05-27 RCMP members responded to report of mischief to Mackenzie district property damage. Suspect located and spoken to by police that he is no longer welcome back. If the individual continues actions district employee expressed they will proceed with charges.
1.22. On 2022-05-30 Mackenzie RCMP completed a curfew check of a long time prolific offender. The offender was not home. RCMP submitted a breach of conditions. Crown council determined no action on file and will not proceed with charges.
