The Regional District announced today that transfer stations in McBride, Valemount, Mackenzie and Shelley will re-open Saturday, April 16. (Note: Mackenzie’s transfer station hours are Sunday to Thursday so Sunday will be the first day that residents can use the swap shed.)
“We are pleased to have the swap sheds in operation again at McBride, Valemount, Mackenzie and Shelley,” says Rachael Ryder, Waste Diversion Program Leader with the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George.
“Swap sheds give new life to usable household items that can find a new home. One person’s junk is another’s treasure so the swap shed is a great alternative to just throwing something away,” says Ryder.

Accepted items at the Swap Sheds include
• Clothing
• Books
• Toys
• Sporting Goods
• Furniture
Items dropped off should be in clean reusable condition. Swap sheds are cleaned regularly and people need to follow health and safety protocols on site, with 1 – 2 people in the Swap Shed at one time.
Mackenzie Transfer Station hours:
Sunday to Thursday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. Closed Fridays and Saturdays.
So how is that going too work if your closed Saturday
