The Mackenzie Times closed its doors in July 2016. Community papers have had a hard time surviving in the last two decades, with advertising dollars shifting to the internet and new media. The Times was owned by Great Thunder Holdings in Toronto.
The Buzzette is independent and locally owned. It began publishing in October 2016. It is primarily an advertising flyer, which includes community news and events.
