File Summary – In January 2023 Mackenzie RCMP responded to 131 files and completed four proactive road checks.
Investigations of Interest:
1.1. On 2023-01-02 Mackenzie RCMP completed a stop of a vehicle associated to a known offender in Mackenzie. The driver was arrested for breach of court order conditions and later plead guilty serving two days’ time served in custody.
1.2. On 2023-01-04 Mackenzie RCMP responded to a domestic assault in progress. RCMP attended and determined an assault happened. The suspect was arrested held for a bail hearing which he was released by the court for a court date in February in Mackenzie.
1.3. On 2023-01-07 Mackenzie RCMP responded to a cause disturbance at hotel. RCMP attended and a person was apprehended under the mental health act. RCMP assisted the Mackenzie hospital with the client where they assaulted a police office. Police released the accused on charges of assault police officer and utter threats. A warrant was granted for the accused and court date is pending.
1.4. On 2023-01-09 Mackenzie RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter in progress. RCMP attended and located the suspect still inside the residence. The suspect and victim were known to each other. Suspect held for bail hearing for break and enter. Suspect held initially but later released by the courts and is to appear in court February.
1.5. On 2023-01-10 Mackenzie RCMP responded to a report of a commercial break and enter in progress. Police attended and located the suspects. Suspects arrested for break and enter, possession of stolen property and breach. One suspect released on an undertaking with a court date in April. The second suspect held in custody on their charges and will appear in court in February. Both suspects well known to police. Media release completed on this file.
1.6. On 2023-01-13 Mackenzie RCMP responded to a request of a check well-being. It was determined a person was deceased. Mackenzie RCMP worked alongside the Coroner Services who are lead on the file due to no foul play.
1.7. On 2023-01-18 Mackenzie RCMP responded to a possible assault in progress. It was determined that a person was having a mental health crisis. The person was apprehended and transported to hospital for medical treatment.
1.8. On 2023-01-20 Mackenzie RCMP responded to a possible assault in progress. Members attended and confirmed an assault happened. Accused arrested and held for bail hearing where he was remanded in custody until their court date in February.
1.9. On 2023-01-21 Mackenzie RCMP responded to a cause disturbance at the Mackenzie Recreation Centre. Suspect gone on arrival but later located at another location where they brandished a knife on RCMP. Suspect apprehended under the mental health act and RCMP will be completing a charge package on the suspect.
1.10. On 2023-01-26 Mackenzie RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter. Police attended and later located the suspect at another location. Suspect released on an Undertaking to appear in court in April. Suspect and victim are known to each other.
1.11. On 2023-01-30 Mackenzie RCMP responded to a report of a suicidal person. Person brought to hospital for medical treatment.
